Description: For this assignment we needed to archive a wimba session. Basically, we had to record an online Wimba class that students can review on their own. We needed to use the AppShare feature to walk students through a Power Point project or website. students needed to be able to follow the instructor through the website by sharing the desktop.
Analysis: When I began this assignment, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I thought about creating a powerpoint to share some keypoints with my students, but as I explored various websites, I decided that was the route I wanted to take. I have used Ben's Guide to U.S. Government before, and knew I wanted to use it for this assignment. The website had the information that we had been working with and I decided to have students walk through that site to gain additional knowledge.
Reflection: This assignment was not very difficult, but I did have to take some time to plan out what I wanted to say as I walked the students through the site. I took some time to review the site before recording the archive to ensure the quality of the recording. The one obstacle I did face was simply forgetting to push the talk button after pushing the archive button. I was thinking of the archive as a record button. I think doing an archive session is a little more difficult than a live session due to the fact that you can't ask the students questions and discuss. I think this was a great assignment for this class since the main idea is teaching an online course. Wimba could be a great asset to the online course.
